Mental Health Support Worker
I am a wife and mother to 3 children, living in a country town, namely Kilcoy.
I love staying fit and weight training at the gym, I enjoy being in the outdoors, fishing, camping and walking in nature. I am compassionate and outgoing.
I love to encourage and motivate people to try new things, no matter what walk of life you come from, I am here to listen to you and help you voice your concerns. I want you to be able to live a fulfilled life on your terms, allowing freedom of choice, with support and guidance.
I experience working with clients who have myotonic dystrophy, OCD, anxiety, and Schizophrenia. I have experience as a live in support worker, supporting day to day needs, community access, hygiene, and wheelchair transfers. I worked in the aged care sector for 5 years as a group fitness instructor and physio assistant, working with clients who have dementia or physical disabilities. I provided one-on-one emotional support and assisted with improving their quality of life through mobility.
I believe emotional support and meeting our spiritual needs is equally as important as physical support. It’s all about a healthy balance supporting the fundamentals of wellness. With that aside, I’m sure who ever I work with, we will have a laugh! After all, laughter is the best medicine.

I have completed a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) and am currently completing my Honours in Psychology, with plans to continue into Masters. I also have a Certificate 3 in Allied Health assistance.
I have experience working as a mental health and disability support worker, as well as a background in aged care. Particularly working with individuals with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bi-polar, dementia, physical and intellectual disabilities. For me, the best part about this job is building relationships with participants and watching them grow, overcome barriers, and achieve their goals.
I am passionate about all things mental health. Through my own mental health journey and guiding others through theirs, I understand that mental health isn’t a straight road, that every individual is unique with their own strengths and values, and that through empowerment individuals can gain control, choice, and influence over their lives.
Being born and raised in Israel, I have grown up doing a lot of travelling and love visiting new places, meeting new people and learning about different cultures.
When I am not studying, some of my hobbies include living an active lifestyle, going to the gym, long walks, sunrises, spending time with friends and family (especially my ridgeback and kitten), and anything art related.

I am passionate about travel, photography, and all things arty, even if I can only draw a stick figure. I love sitting in nature and going to the occasional football game with family and friends.

I love living an active lifestyle that includes going for walks along the beach, surfing, and running. Some of my other hobbies include cooking, camping, and watching movies. My ideal weekend would be waking up early to watch the sunrise, going for a walk and socializing with friends. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and making new friends.

I have completed my Masters in Social Work, following a sixteen-year career as a primary school teacher with specialisation in early childhood education, program coordination and supporting students with additional needs, as well as experience living and working in remote and regional Indigenous Australian communities.
I have lived experience as a carer for a family member with an ABI and mental health condition, lived experience of grief and bereavement and subsequent lived experience of mental illness myself.
My working relationships with children and young people have also involved working with the larger family unit, community elders, volunteers, assistants and community and specialist personnel.
I take an ecological and systems approach to my work with participants, acknowledging the greater contexts impacting the person at the centre of the story, while at the same time taking a strengths-based approach.
I am a mother to two tween and teen girls, love the beach (but not big waves), walking in the national park and doing yoga. My secret hobby is writing and my not-so-secret challenge is my very naughty Groodle named Arthur. My father is from India and so it makes sense that my favourite food is curry. My family and I love travelling internationally, exploring and interacting with other cultures.

I am passionate about all things creative - writing and playing music, painting and drawing, sewing and designing. I like to use different forms of art to express myself and seek new skills through them.
I grew up on a small farm, and from that my love for the environment has grown and flourished. Connecting with nature has been one of my favorite ways to help with my own lived experience with mental health issues.
My goal in life is to support people in living their best, unique life, as a healthy and happy life looks different for all of us. I believe in using a possibility approach, that validates experiences and ideas, encourages new perspectives, and seeks to access a person’s unique strengths and resources.

I am in my third year of a Bachelor of Social Work at University of the Sunshine Coast, and have an undergraduate Certificate in Community Services.
I have just shy of twenty years’ experience working within the housing and homelessness sector, both directly with people needing housing, and behind the scenes with policy development, support and training. The best part of this time was when situations were desperate, I was able to assist people to overcome barriers to obtain accommodation that was safe and secure where they could then flourish.
I also have a number of years working in banking. During this time, I became involved in the community, volunteering with a disability organisation, later becoming a board member, and having the privilege to represent them at a ‘Communities in Control’ conference. Banking itself, was not for me, but building relationships and helping people within the community has led me to social work.
I have become particularly passionate about working with people living with mental health challenges, both through my work history and with lived experience with two young adult children who are managing mental health diagnoses. I have personal experience with family members living with addiction. I am a proud parent of a transgender young adult and advocate strongly for anti-discrimination and inclusion especially for people within the LGBTQIA+ community.
I work from a person-centred, strengths-based approach, all the while encompassing person-in-environment, ecological and systems theories, in navigating the ‘bigger-picture’ and world. Ultimately I listen to you, you are unique, you are the master of your own destiny. How can I help?
I love the great outdoors, often camping and finding great hiking tracks and swimming holes. We have two big dogs, a cat and chooks! I can get lost in exploring book-stores and second-hand stores. To totally switch off I enjoy any crafting and have put my hand to various projects (a lot unfinished!), such as pottery, and beading, but I mainly crochet and sew.

I am passionate about creating mental health awareness in everyday life and in my career in the events industry. I have experience working in childcare and supporting individuals of all ages with their mental health.
Creative outlets have always provided a therapeutic experience throughout my own mental health journey. My goal is to create safe and inclusive environments where all people can flourish and express themselves while enjoying the beautiful things in life like music, art, culture and nature. I believe the best way I can do this is by supporting people to live their own authentic lives and reach their highest potential.
